The proposed project area encompasses East Main Street from Leigh Street to New Street, New Street extending from East Main to SR 173, and a 2,176-foot segment along SR 173, starting at Leigh Street and extending eastward. The project entails the installation of a new 831 linear foot sanitary sewer segment using open trench excavation on SR 173 from Leigh Street and commencing approximately 200 feet east of New Street. This segment will consist of a new 15-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe and will be connected to a pre-cast concrete manhole to accommodate all wastewater flows traveling west on SR 173; thereby; diverting it away from East Main Street and the downtown area. Additionally, the proposed project involves the rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer main and manhole on East Main Street spanning 617 linear feet from Leigh Street to New Street and along New Street extending 119 linear feet from East Main Street to SR 173. Rehabilitation work will also be completed on the 1,345-foot sewer main segment on SR 173, starting at approximately 200 feet east of New Street and commencing at approximately 350 feet past Ida Seals Drive. The proposed rehabilitation work will be completed utilizing a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) trenchless system.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
