This grant, funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), provides financial assistance to support DC Water's ongoing program to remove and replace all lead service lines in the District of Columbia. This project will verify service line materials at approximately 37,837 homes through test pitting and replace approximately 6,088 lead service lines on the private-side portion of the service line. These actions are necessary to ensure the quality, quantity, reliability, and safety of the District's drinking water and to advance the objectives of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The project will be carried out under four construction contracts across all wards in Washington, D.C. Construction Contract 22: Approximately 1,572 replacements are anticipated, along with 11,290 test pits to determine whether lines are lead prior to replacement. Construction Contract 23: Approximately 1,516 replacements are anticipated, along with 11,547 test pits to determine whether lines are lead prior to replacement. Construction Contract 24: Approximately 1,500 replacements are anticipated, along with 7,500 test pits to determine whether lines are lead prior to replacement.
