Project Description

The objective of this proposed project is to establish a reliable secondary water source that will strengthen Millerstown Borough’s water system and ensure continuity of service under all operating conditions. The proposed secondary water supply source project components include well drilling; pump installation; water main distribution installation; disinfection treatment system installation; access road improvements; electrical improvements; and connection to the existing water main. Millerstown Borough currently relies on a single well to supply potable water to its residents, businesses, public facilities, and critical infrastructure. This sole water source presents a significant vulnerability, as there is currently no backup system in place to provide water in the event of an emergency. The Borough previously had a secondary well, but it was decommissioned due to inadequate yield and regulatory requirements. By adding a secondary water source, the Borough will enhance water infrastructure resiliency, reduce risk of service disruptions during power outages or environmental hazards, and keep the water system in regulatory compliance.
