Community Grants FY24 Kearns Improvement District Water Supply Repair and Resiliency ProjectDocument Number
N2026137Document Type
CATEXProject Description
A portion of the City of Kearns is currently being serviced with a 6-inch asbestos cement pipe, which is severely undersized to provide the required water capacity and does not meet the Utah Division of Drinking Water requirements for supply of water. Near Kearns Junior High School, 1,760 linear feet (LF) of 6-inch asbestos cement pipe (including a portion running under the school) needs to be replaced. In the proposed project, 1,760 LF of asbestos line will be abandoned in place and will be replaced with a supply line of 2,238 LF 12-inch C900 PVC pipe and connected to a nearby 12-inch supply line just recently installed by KID in 2024 through other funding. The new 12-inch supply line will be constructed in the public roadway, along with 8 new fire hydrants looped into the existing lines, and related appurtenances.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
