Project Description

The project consists of the construction a stormwater treatment wetland of native plant species to infiltrate and filter stormwater from a parking lot and watershed to the south of Walnut Creek within the City of Clive, IA. This wetland will be approximately one acre in size and treat stormwater that currently flows directly into Walnut Creek without any treatment. The project will also stabilize 1,200 feet of stream bank along Walnut Creek and enhance and restore riparian upland and lowland habitat using native plantings. The stabilization will utilize multiple types of stabilization including block retaining walls to protect private property along the east edge of the site, vegetated geogrid with live stakes and soil choked rip rap to stabilize the toe of the bank along the majority of the 1,200 feet of stabilized stream banks.
