Project Description

The proposed project involves construction of a new well (well #9) located on the plot at the southeast corner of Pearl St. and West 3rd St. in Metropolis, IL. The proposed well will utilize a pump capable of 1400 GPM with a 125 Hp motor. The well will be constructed to an estimated total depth of 525’, with a 16” steel casing and an 8” discharge line. A 20’ x 12’ structure will be constructed to house the new wellhead to provide access for maintenance, testing and operation while protecting the piping from the elements with a mini-split heating and cooling system The project will also involve upgrades to wells #6 and #7 to allow for a “pump waste” feature to prevent any sand or turbidity from being sent to the treatment plant. These upgrades will involve the expansion of existing well vaults to 6’ by 8’ to accommodate the actuators.
