EA/FONSIProject Description
The City is proposing to use Community Grant Program funding for one phase (Phase 1 or Proposed Action) of a larger project that would provide treated effluent from the WMARSS that serves Waco and six surrounding cities in McLennan County, Texas. Reclaimed water will be provided to serve Waco industries and businesses in the area of a growing industrial park, Texas Central Park. The Proposed Action involves rehabilitation of the existing chlorine contact chamber, construction of a new chlorine treatment structure, approximately 2,500 feet of 20-inch diameter line to tie into the existing transmission line, a 2-million-gallon ground storage tank, two pumping facilities, and instrumentation. The primary purpose of the Proposed Action is to rehabilitate the chlorine contact chamber and increase chlorine treatment capacity so that the WMARSS may eventually provide treated effluent from the WMARSS to serve Waco industries and businesses in the Texas Central Park. The need of the Proposed Action is to add additional effluent storage and pumping to be able to address the growing demand for affordable, reclaimed water at the expanding Texas Central Park.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
