The Town of Kernersville is proposing several phases of restoration and flood resilience activitieswithin the Beeson Creek Watershed. The Project will include streambank stabilization, excavation offloodplain pools for water storage and habitat enhancement and planting a diverse forest community tosupport wildlife. The activities proposed specifically for Reach 7, the portion of the Project being fundedby the EPA, are as follows: Installation of a regenerative stormwater conveyance to restore a 15-foot headcut. Address localized bank erosion through grading, matting, and vegetation. Installation of log and boulder structures to provide grade control to protect streambanks. Installation of grade control structures. Ensure the channel is 6 to 7 feet in width with stable riffles and pools. The result will be a stable watershed with natural floodplain areas that hold floodwater to reduce downstream risk and improve ecological conditions in the watershed.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
