Project Description

he City operates a filtration water treatment plant which finished water is pumped to three storage tanks. During the third quarter of the year when Canandaigua Lake organic levels are high, downstream distributors that purchase water from the City have subsequently violated the EPA’s maximum contaminate level for total trihalomethanes (TTHMs). TTHM concentrations can be reduced by aeration/volatilization of TTHMs from water in the storage tanks using in-tank aeration systems. Additionally, a new power and control building to house the TTHM control equipment will be constructed at the water storage tank site requiring small land clearing.
