Project Description

The Village of Portville owns and operates a water system that consists of three well houses, two water storage tanks, and approximately 8.1 miles of water distribution main. The water system has multiple deficiencies including aging and undersized water main, inadequate chlorine contact time, and the lack of modern system controls and monitoring. Proposed improvements include: • Water distribution system, which includes in-kind replacement of approximately 6,800 linear feet of water main and appurtenances at various street locations. • North well site, which includes the removal and replacement of the existing well pump, construction of a new 26-foot by 20-foot treatment building, and the installation of various site piping. • South well building, which includes all new interior piping and appurtenances; new controls; a new roof; new doors; HVAC upgrades; and other minor improvements. • Wellington well building, which includes a new roof, new doors, exterior painting, and other minor improvements. • South water storage reservoir, which includes the construction of a new 0.35 million gallon prestressed concrete storage tank and various piping for both the tank inlet and outlet, drains, and overflow. Overall, the project will not result in any identifiable adverse human health or environmental effects and is expected to result in an overall benefit to the Village by ensuring the reliability of the water system and improving the ability for the system to be in compliance with regulatory standards. Lastly, this project will improve the reliability of the Village’s public water system.
