Title
Community Grant for Talbot County, MD - Sewer Extension Project and Royal Oak Pump Station ReplacementDocument Number
N2024337Document Type
CATEXProject Description
The project will connect 313 parcels on traditional septic systems to the public sewer system by installing septic tank effluent pump (STEP) systems. Specifically, the project will eliminate septic fields, rehabilitate, or replace existing septic tanks, install effluent pumps at residential parcels and install new small-diameter sewer pipes to connect to force mains within existing adjacent roads. The project area falls within a Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, and many of the existing septic systems on the individual parcels are failing. The proposed project will improve water quality by eliminating nitrogen laden water from damaged septic tanks and drainfields from entering surface or groundwaters ultimately tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. The Royal Oak Pump station improvement portion of this project has already been completed with non-Community Grant funds.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
