Project Description

The Arsenic Treatment Project (Project) for the Virgin Valley Water District (VVWD) is located in Lincoln County, NV (Section 31, Township 12 South, Range 71 East, Mount Diablo Meridian), north of the City of Mesquite, NV. The area immediately surrounding the Proposed Action is unpopulated, with the closest residences approximately 0.8 miles to the southeast. Portions of the Proposed Action will occur within the previously developed VVWD Northwest Tank site shown in Figure 1, which includes the existing storage tank, Well 35, a transmission waterline from Well 36 to the tank site, and accessory control equipment. Construction of new facilities would occur on both previously disturbed areas and within areas supporting disturbed creosote shrub communities. The water treatment plant (WTP) facility would occupy approximately 80,000 square feet (1.84 acres) of land owned by VVWD.
