Project Description

The project will entail the installation of a new ductile iron water main, via open cut excavation, in the westernmost southbound lane of Addison Road. The segment which crosses Irving Park Road, will be installed via directional drilling. Existing water service lines will be reestablished with one-and-a-half-inch Type K copper pipe. Several parcels which don’t currently have water service will be provided a stub to a buffalo box for future connection opportunity. New fire hydrants and valves will be installed along the main while existing hydrants and valves will be decommissioned. The existing main will be abandoned in place and capped at the disconnection locations. The city has hired an engineering firm to oversee the work and ensure quality control of materials and workmanship.
