The Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict (MetroConnects) in South Carolina is proposing to improve the existing deteriorated sewer system by rehabilitating approximately 14,800 linear feet (LF) of 12-inch and 15-inch diameter sewer pipes. The proposed sewer improvements will involve approximately 8,700 LF of pipe replacements via opencut and approximately 6,100 LF of pipe rehabilitation via cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) lining along the southern limits of Old Buncombe Road and Brooks Ave within the boundaries of the EPA US Finishing/Cone Mills Superfund Site. The scope of work will take place in two Phases, with Phase 1 being funded by the EPA community grants funding and specifically entails: 1. Rehabilitation of approximately 320 LF of 15-inch piping via CIPP lining. 2. Relocation of approximately 5,800 LF of 12-inch piping. 3. Abandonment of existing piping and 29 manholes. 4. Replacement of 28 existing manholes and 104 lateral connections.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
