Community Grant for Petersburg, VA - Poor Creek Pump Station UpgradesDocument Number
N2024052Document Type
CATEXProject Description
The Poor Creek Pump Station is currently underperforming what was expected for its design, rendering it deficient and unable to meet current demand. The project will upgrade the Poor Creek Pump Station and Equalization Basin to meet the current demand and expand the capacity to convey higher volumes of wastewater. The project will take place on the same City-owned property as the existing Poor Creek Pump Station located along US 460 (Winfield Road). The project will include the installation of four new larger pumps, generator, bar screen, electrical equipment, motor controls, and 4-inch suction lift pump to discharge flows from the equalization basin into the pump station wet well. Installation of additional transducers and changes to the programming for the automatic operation of the equalization basin will also be provided. A small expansion to the building footprint will be built to house the larger pumps and associated improvements. The pump station will be capable of running at a lower speed to remain at current discharge levels until the South-Central Wastewater Authority gets approval to expand its discharge limit and accepts any additional flows from neighboring counties.EPA Region/Headquarters Office
