Project Description

This proposed project involves phased improvements and expansion of the existing WWTP which is adjacent to the Allegheny River. The goal is to construct two sequence batch reactor (SBR) basins that can provide treatment for all influent flow up to a peak flow of 3 million gallons per day (MGD). A SBR control building and distribution box will be constructed. All flow in excess of 3 MGD will be diverted to a flow storage basin that will be converted from the existing trickling filter. A new storage basin pump station will also be constructed with an automatic bar screen, a bypass channel with a static screen, and an overflow channel with a static screen. Additional construction includes a raw sewage pump station, grit removal system, UV disinfection facility, and sludge pumps. The existing Clarigesters will undergo concrete repairs and will be converted to aerobic digesters.
