Document Number

Project Description

The Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is located northwest of Salt Lake City and is in an industrial area. The project will take place entirely within the location of the existing water treatment facilities owned and operated by the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities (SLCDPU). The new influent sewer tunnel will be installed along an alignment between the Jordan River and Marathon property for 5,400 feet. The alignment uses lands primarily owned by SLCDPU and easements along the roadways. The new Biological Nutrient Removal facility will be built within the 22 acres of land currently occupied by the existing drying beds. A new outfall pipe will be built from the new ultraviolet disinfection building to a new outfall structure discharging into the Northwest Oil Drain Canal north of the existing outfall location. A new Influent Pump Station (IPS) will be constructed on the main plant site. A new sewer tunnel will be constructed following a western alignment traversing from southeast of the existing IPS, along the west side of the Marathon property, and into the southwest corner of the main plant site. The tunnel will discharge combined gravity sewer flows into an influent junction chamber preceding the new IPS.
